Apple Cider Vinegar ~ Why do I drink it?

I should start by saying I by no means a expert I personally have just been using apple cider vinegar for years and done a lot of research on the benefits.  Apple cider vinegar is a ingredient that has been used for a variety of things over centuries. It’s uses range from cooking, to cleaning and even for beautifying . Apple cider vinegar (or ACV for short) is known as a superfood with incredible healing properties!

This ingredient holds a record of it’s versatility that just keeps growing and growing. It is all natural, safe, and proven effective. Personally, I am a fan of ACV and have been using it for years.

For centuries, people have been using vinegar as a natural remedy to fight off infections, treat fevers and improve digestion. Now a day’s people are using vinegar on salads. or for things like a facial cleansers. It pretty much can be used for anything and everything.

You are probably wondering what makes ACV so powerful? Its loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and enzymes!  BUT not all ASV is the same.

How To Pick Out The Perfect Apple Cider Vinegar? When you’re at the local store in search of that perfect bottle of apple cider vinegar, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. You definitely don’t want that clear vinegar, you’ll want to choose one that looks murky. Organic, unfiltered, unprocessed vinegar has a cloudy and murky look to it. I always have to shake mine up before use.

When you look through the murky vinegar, you’ll even notice a cobweb like substance floating around in it. This is actually desired. That is called the “mother” That means it still contains the beneficial compounds you want, including probiotics.

I personally only use Bragg brand. The link is below if you want to check it out. You can pick it up at most stores. We get ours at Target.

It is believed that Apple Cider Vinegar helps in detoxification of the body, regulation of thyroid hormones and improves metabolism rate.

Those are just a few of the benefits to drinking ASV daily. Some of the others benefits include

Weight loss: Two tablespoonful of apple cider vinegar a day promotes weight loss. Its said to boost your metabolism, and stimulates the hormones needed in breaking down fat cells.

Heartburn: It may seem weird to treat stomach acid problem with another type of acid. Its acidity content is very low too, usually not higher than 5%. And according to several studies this ingredient had done wonders for many people who suffered from heartburn problems.

Energy boost: a shot of ACV is a great boost of energy. You can take it before a workout or even after.  ACV contains enzymes that can bring you a lift, because it helps relieve the build up of lactic acid in the body.

Aid’s in allergy and colds: ACV is known to help with sinus drainage. It’s also know to even assist in preventing a cold. If you feel a cold coming on you can kill germs by downing a shot. Or if you prefer gargle with ASV and some warm water.

Improve arthritis: It is said that by consuming ACV daily, you can reduce the pain triggered by arthritis by 30%. The content of antioxidant beta-carotene and acetic acid in ACV are said to miraculously ease the pain.

Now you are probably wondering how you consume this Vinegar?

There are many ways to consume ACV, you can mix two tablespoons of in a glass of warm water. Add in some honey for taste. Some people make “morning detox tea” I will even add 2 tablespoons to some salsa as a salad dressing.

Some examples are:

Detox Tea: 1 cup warm water, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon raw honey, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, dash of cayenne pepper.

Me personally I prefer to just take 2 tablespoons as a shot and get it over with.

I get asked a lot if someone should take it on an empty stomach or after they eat breakfast. I personally take it on an empty stomach, after my workout.

I wouldn’t suggest taking it on a empty stomach before a workout because it might make you a bit nauseous.  If you take the shot after you workout, even if you’ve had food, you’ll still reap all the benefits!

So now that you have a little bit more information try it out for a few weeks and let me know how you feel. Bottoms up!!
