If you have been following my health and fitness journey you know that I just finished up The Masters Hammer and Chisel program. It’s been really challenging and amazing journey so far. Kurtis purchased the Hammer and Chisel program and had some awesome results so I decided to give it a go. To be honest I was TERRIFIED. I was getting use to the quick 30 minute workouts and some of the Hammer and Chisel workouts are a bit longer. I also worked out with Kurtis on 2 different occasions before making the decision and both times I struggled my way through them. But let me tell you I LOVED the program. I was challenged and some of the time I wanted to quit but I am both physically and mentally stronger then when I started. 

Beachbody has absolutely knocked it out of the park with this fitness program.  

The creators of the program are master trainers Autumn Calabrese who has created programs like 21 Day Fix and the 21 Day Fix Extreme. She’s also created the portion control system. Sagi Kalev created program Body Beast and is a bodybuilder and former two-time “Mr. Israel” The two of them together came up with this amazing program to get you HAMMERED AND CHISELED. 

They work together to shred you out and then build you back up.

Meal Plan:

If you have done a Beachbody program that utilizes the {Portion Fix} system then this meal plan will be no problem. The Portion Fix is an easy-to-follow portion control system that takes the guesswork out of knowing what foods and how much of that food to eat. The idea of Portion Fix is to teach you what foods comprise a healthy diet, and how to eat the right amount of food without tedious calorie counting or pulling your hair out. What makes Hammer and Chisel so unique is that they provide the portion control containers in the package. Each container represents a different food type. Then, you are instructed on what you should be putting in the containers. The containers are already made to fit perfect portions, no measuring or guesswork is required.

If you have not used this system before the 1st few days will take some planning. All though with all of the diet plans that are out there, I believe this meal plan is one of the easier ones to follow.  Because I had already done a few rounds of 21 Day Fix and 21-Day Fix Extreme plan I was well acquainted with the routine. There are tons of recipes online and especially on Pinterest.  Autumn even has a cookbook out called Fixate I highly recommend.  This meal plan really sets the tone for the whole series and is the most important step in getting into better shape. Honestly I didn’t follow it as closely as I should have and I truly believe that hindered my results. 
The Workouts:

 The workouts also vary in time so you will need to make sure you know the time of each one if you are on limited time.  
* Chisel Balance (40 mins) : Core strength, legs & balance

* Hammer Plymoetrics (26 mins): Build Speed & POWER using fast-twitch muscles

* Iso Strength Chisel (35 mins):  Strength and stability 

* Iso Speed Hammer (23 mins): Total body building workout

* Hammer Conditioning (30 mins): Improve relative strength, balance. As well as coordination with challenging compound moves.

* Chisel Endurance (36 mins):  Total body workout. All about building endurance. 

* Hammer Total Body (42 mins): Total body workout, with a strong weightlifting focus.

* Chisel Total Body (35 mins):  Build strength and create muscle definition

* Chisel Agility (38 mins): Build speed, coordination, and power. 

* Hammer Power (38 mins):  This is heavy weights, powerlifting style. 

* Chisel Cardio (38 mins):  This is a cardio resistance routine that will increase heart rate, circulation, and burn an intense amount of calories.

* Max Hammer Strength (35 mins): Pre-fatigue major muscle groups and follow it up with a maximum weighted lift to carve incredible definition and get you strong.

* 10 Minute Ab Hammer: Carve definition into your core while strengthening your entire ab complex.

* 10 Minute Ab Chisel: This core-crusher will transform your midsection, without ever getting on the floor.
Equipment Needed:

For the Hammer and Chisel program, you will need some equipment. 

The first thing you will need are dumbbells. These are crucial to get the most out of this workout system. Light, medium, and heavy weights. Sagi and Autumn strongly suggest using adjustable weights. An adjustable bench is also strongly recommended, although I used a stability ball up until the last week. 

Finally, you will need some way to do pull-ups. A power tower, a door attachment, or even resistant bands attached to a door. I personally used the resistance bands. 

My Results:

I started Hammer and Chisel at the perfect time. The holiday months are tough and this program was the extra accountability I needed to stay on track with all the holiday eating. Even though I was not 100% . Having my Shakeology daily, and having a program I was committed to sure made a difference. Coming off the 21 Day Fix Extreme, I thought I had my nutrition under control. 

I did stick to the workouts 100% but didn’t focus on my nutrition as much as I should have. My nutrition was probably 70/30 BIG MISTAKE! Nutrition is the biggest key to maximizing the results. I was also sick for 3 of the 8 weeks of this program. During this program I lost 12 pounds and 12 and a half total inches! Including 5 inches off my hips and 3 inches off my waist! That’s crazy!! 

This workout program definitely sneaks up on you. You are just trucking along and by the 4th week you notice you are getting stronger and seeing muscle definition. If you are serious with the nutrition and the program, you will see results!
